… and cute little bunnies.
Just some pictures from Avilon Zoo. The reptiles were taken last Friday, for my Photojournalism class. It was my first time to go to a zoo by myself. It was a good experience.
The pictures of the birds and bunnies were taken last December, during Christmas vacation.
Here we go, let’s start with the birds.

I just love owls. Their eyes are so enticing! (above)

Here’s a random fun fact about peacocks (see more here): The word peacock actually refers to the male bird but the word is commonly used to refer to both sexes of this species (below).

Next, reptiles. This time I was able to take pictures of their names (as in the species).
This is a Salt Water Crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) (below).

I had a hard time taking pictures of it because it stayed in the water the whole time. And it didn’t really move so much. I wasn’t at all inspired while taking its picture.

Now this is an African Spurred Tortois (Geochelone sulcata) I took it just as it started yawning, teehee (below).

Spurs can live up to about 80 years. The oldest known of this species was known to live 56 years. Read more about it here.

I zoomed in on its face while I was editing this picture (above). I was half amazed, one fourth disgusted and one fourth scared. Wait a minute… is my math even correct?
This is a Pig-nosed turtle and some Parrot Cichlids (below).

I wasn’t able to get the names of these lizards (below). I was too focused on trying to get good shots of them without showing my reflection on the glass.

It was hard to capture this lizard with it’s tongue out. I was only able to get one good enough picture of it (below).

Now this is a Green Iguana (below). It looked so sad, all alone in it’s cage. Come to think of it, most of the animals looked really sad and pitiful.

“Whatchu looking at?” (below)

Now finally, the bunnies! When we went there last December, my brother and cousin were able to feed these cute little bunnies and guinea pigs (below).

I enjoyed my time in the zoo, even if I was all alone. I think I’ll start making it a habit. The zoo is a cool place, although some of the animals are pitiful being locked up in those cages and having to constantly deal with people staring at them and taking pictures of them.
I am always reminded of how great God is, how he was able to uniquely design each creature. It’s so mind-blowing!
Genesis 1:25 “God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.”
