sojourn: a temporary stay; stop; stop over; vacation
It was decided that November 11, 2011 would be a special day. Everyone everywhere made plans (almost everyone at least).
I and my friends were no different. The only thing was, nothing went according to plan. I experienced so many heartbreaks in one day. Here’s what happened.
Heartbreak #1: We heard of the lantern lighting thing in the Ortigas Megatent. It sounded so cool and we all decided to go. I was excited to take pictures, I knew I’d be able to get some good shots. But a few hours before we were about to leave, they cancelled the event.
Heartbreak #2: At least the banchetto was still open. I tried inviting my friends from Life Box QC, I even offered to bring them back to Katipunun after. But they said Ortigas was too far. None of them wanted to go with me.
Heartbreak #3: Klayre and I picked up Eunice in Katipunan at around 8pm. We drove to Ortigas. We spent more than 2 hours in the car. It was SUPER traffic in Ortigas. Eunice needed to pee and we all started getting stomach aches. We thought we’d be spending 11:11pm in the car.
So much for making plans. We ended up having dinner in a restaurant in El Pueblo.

11.11.11 buddies, Eunice (above) and Klayre (below)

It was my first time to eat in Pasto, El Pueblo branch. I loved the ambiance.

Klayre ordered some mozzarella sticks for our appetizer.

11.11.11! He he he.

I ordered Pollo Cremoso (“penne with chicken, sun-dried tomatoes and roasted mushrooms in a garlic-cream sauce”, according to the menu). It was delicious! I love cream based pastas. I couldn’t finish it though so I took it out. I ended up giving it to a kid on the street. Better than giving cash.

Klayre ordered Genovese (“capellini with shrimps, arugula, pesto and pine nuts in a tomato-cream sauce”). It was good too, but I liked my Pollo Cremoso better.

I forgot what Eunice ordered. It was cream based too.
Anyway, it was finally 11:11 (at least in my phone)! Eunice and I started jumping around (we didn’t care anymore if the other diners thought we were weird) and taking pictures of all the clocks we could find. We realized that our phones were not synchronized. Fail.

SUDDENLY, I got a text. I thought somebody loved me… It was just my mom telling me to go home. Well, at least she loves me.

Eunice, on the other hand, was on the phone with someone. Let’s just say she started doing some crazy dance.

I just had to embarrass her on the phone and we started running around the place. Long story…

Klayre was the most mature one among us. She just thought we were stupid.

I had an amazing time. Nothing went according to plan, but it was still so much fun. I love these girls.

Funny how this verse comes into mind: “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” - Proverbs 19: 21
